When my kids see pictures of places that I've been to - or want to go to - it inspires them to think of places that they want to go. My daughter was learning about aquatic life at school last year and learned about manatees. On her own volition, she looked up where they live and found a river in Florida where you can go and see them.
Guess what? I love wildlife trips and it inspired me! I don't know when we'll get there, but a trip to Florida to swim with manatees is now on our bucket list.
Sometimes, you can't travel (let's say, hypothetically, there's a pandemic;) but the book becomes a portal to that place. A book is always a way to learn more about people, their land, their culture, their beliefs. Here's a path to instilling a love of books, of travel and growing good global citizens!
